Spiritual Senses
Acts 1:5 - for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. * Immersed and washed by John’s baptism is easier to understand. You can say, “well, it is symbolic.” Immersed and washed by the Holy Spirit is in another “sense” all together.
2 Corinthians 2:15 - For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.
Ephesians 1:18 - the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints
Hebrews 11:
- 3: By faith we understand that the world has been created by the word of God so that what is seen has not been made out of things that are visible.
- 6: And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He proves to be One who rewards those who seek Him.
- 10: for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
- 26,27: considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.
By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he persevered, as though seeing Him who is unseen.
John 10:27 - My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
Luke 8: 45,46 - And Jesus said, “Who is the one who touched Me?” And while they were all denying it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing in on You.” But Jesus said, “Someone did touch Me, for I was aware that power had left Me.”
Matthew 5:13 - “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by people. *Right after the Beautitudes. We are seasoned because we taste that the Lord is good. What are we seasoning our lives with? What else are we tasting or taking into our senses that is shaping and filling us?
- Poor in spirit OR self righteous, self sufficient
- Mourning from sin OR hard heartedness
- Gentleness OR boastful / worldly ambition
- Thirsting for righteousness OR hearts full of the world’s ways
- Showing mercy OR unforgiving and keeping score
- Pure in heart OR perverted and lustful
- A peacemaker OR divisive and an agitator
- Persecuted for righteousness, for His sake OR praised by the world
Matthew 13:15-17 - FOR THE HEART OF THIS PEOPLE HAS BECOME DULL, WITH THEIR EARS THEY SCARCELY HEAR, AND THEY HAVE CLOSED THEIR EYES, OTHERWISE THEY MIGHT SEE WITH THEIR EYES, HEAR WITH THEIR EARS, UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART, AND RETURN, AND I WOULD HEAL THEM.’ “But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. “For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.
Proverbs 20:12 - The hearing ear and the seeing eye, The LORD has made them both.
Psalms 34:8 - Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
Psalms 115:4-8 - Their idols are silver and gold, The work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they (do not speak); eyes they have, but they (do not see); they have ears, but they (do not hear); noses they have, but they (do not smell); they have hands, but they (do not handle); feet they have, but they (do not walk); nor do they mutter through their throat. Those who make them will become like them, Everyone who trusts in them.
Revelation 2:29 - ‘The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’
