Fools

1 Corinthians 3:18,19 - Take care that no one deceives himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in the sight of God.

Ecclesiastes 7:9 – Do not be eager in your heart to be angry, for anger resides in the bosom of fools.

Ecclesiastes 9:17 - The words of the wise heard in quietness are better than the shouting of a ruler among fools.

Galatians 6:7-10 - Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a person sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. Let’s not become discouraged in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not become weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let’s do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.  ** To continue in sin is to suffer harm. God’s grace and forgiveness is not meant to cover those who continue in willful disobedience thereby mocking God and “spitting” on the sacrifice of Jesus.  We must repent and continue in repentance –

James 1:23-25 - For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But one who has looked intently at the perfect law, the law of freedom, and has continued in it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an active doer, this person will be blessed in what he does.

Luke 11:39-41 - But the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and of the dish; but your inside is full of greed and wickedness. You foolish ones, did He who made the outside not make the inside also? But give that which is within as a charitable gift, and then all things are clean for you.

Luke 12:19-21 - And I will say to myself, “You have many goods stored up for many years to come; relax, eat, drink, and enjoy yourself!”’ But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is demanded of you; and as for all that you have prepared, who will own it now?’ Such is the one who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich in relation to God.”

Matthew 5:21,22 - “You have heard that the ancients were told, ‘YOU SHALL NOT MURDER,’ and ‘Whoever commits murder shall be answerable to the court.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be answerable to the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘You good-for-nothing,’ shall be answerable to the supreme court; and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.

Proverbs 1:7 - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 13:20 - He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will suffer harm.

Proverbs 15:1-5 - A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise makes knowledge pleasant, but the mouth of fools spouts foolishness. The eyes of the LORD are in every place, watching the evil and the good. A soothing tongue is a tree of life, but perversion in it crushes the spirit. A fool rejects his father’s discipline, but he who complies with rebuke is sensible.

Proverbs 18:2 - A fool does not delight in understanding, but in revealing his own mind.

Proverbs 26:4,5 - Do not answer a fool according to his foolishness, or you will also be like him. Answer a fool as his foolishness deserves, so that he will not be wise in his own eyes.

Proverbs 26:11 - Like a dog that returns to its vomit, so is a fool who repeats his foolishness.

Proverbs 29:20 - Do you see a person who is hurried with his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Romans 1:21-23 - For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
